NewEnglandcoin
Symbol: NENG
NewEnglandcoin is a clone of Bitcoin using scrypt as a proof-of-work algorithm with enhanced features to protect against 51% attack and decentralize on mining to allow diversified mining rigs across CPUs, GPUs, ASICs and Android phones.
Mining Algorithm: Scrypt with RandomSpike. RandomSpike is 3rd generation of Dynamic Difficulty (DynDiff) algorithm on top of scrypt.
1 minute block targets base difficulty reset: every 1440 blocks subsidy halves in 2.1m blocks (~ 2 to 4 years) 84,000,000,000 total maximum NENG 20000 NENG per block Pre-mine: 1% - reserved for dev fund ICO: None RPCPort: 6376 Port: 6377
NewEnglandcoin has dogecoin like supply at 84 billion maximum NENG. This huge supply insures that NENG is suitable for retail transactions and daily use. The inflation schedule of NengEnglandcoin is actually identical to that of Litecoin. Bitcoin and Litecoin are already proven to be great long term store of value. The Litecoin-like NENG inflation schedule will make NewEnglandcoin ideal for long term investment appreciation as the supply is limited and capped at a fixed number
Bitcoin Fork - Suitable for Home Hobbyists
NewEnglandcoin core wallet continues to maintain version tag of "Satoshi v0.8.7.5" because NewEnglandcoin is very much an exact clone of bitcoin plus some mining feature changes with DynDiff algorithm. NewEnglandcoin is very suitable as lite version of bitcoin for educational purpose on desktop mining, full node running and bitcoin programming using bitcoin-json APIs.
The NewEnglandcoin (NENG) mining algorithm original upgrade ideas were mainly designed for decentralization of mining rigs on scrypt, which is same algo as litecoin/dogecoin. The way it is going now is that NENG is very suitable for bitcoin/litecoin/dogecoin hobbyists who can not , will not spend huge money to run noisy ASIC/GPU mining equipments, but still want to mine NENG at home with quiet simple CPU/GPU or with a cheap ASIC like FutureBit Moonlander 2 USB or Apollo pod on solo mining setup to obtain very decent profitable results. NENG allows bitcoin litecoin hobbyists to experience full node running, solo mining, CPU/GPU/ASIC for a fun experience at home at cheap cost without breaking bank on equipment or electricity.

CPU Minable Coin Because of dynamic difficulty algorithm on top of scrypt, NewEnglandcoin is CPU Minable. Users can easily set up full node for mining at Home PC or Mac using our dedicated cheetah software.
Research on the first forked 50 blocks on v1.2.0 core confirmed that ASIC/GPU miners mined 66% of 50 blocks, CPU miners mined the remaining 34%.
NENG v1.4.0 release enabled CPU mining inside android phones.

Decentralization and Community Driven NewEnglandcoin is a decentralized coin just like bitcoin. There is no boss on NewEnglandcoin. Nobody nor the dev owns NENG.
We know a coin is worth nothing if there is no backing from community. Therefore, we as dev do not intend to make decision on this coin solely by ourselves. It is our expectation that NewEnglandcoin community will make majority of decisions on direction of this coin from now on. We as dev merely view our-self as coin creater and technical support of this coin while providing NENG a permanent home at ShorelineCrypto Exchange.

ASIC/GPU Mining Pools Warning to Big ASIC Miners Due to DynDiff Algo on top of Scrypt, solo mining is recommended for ASIC/GPU miners. Further more, even for mining pools, small mining pool will generate better performance than big NENG mining pool because of new algo v1.2.x post hard fork.
The set up configuration of NENG for scrypt pool mining is same as a typical normal scrypt coin. In other word, DynDiff on Scrypt algo is backward compatible with Scrypt algo. Because ASIC/GPU miners rely on CPU miners for smooth blockchain movement, checkout bottom of "Latest News" section for A WARNING to All ASIC miners before you decide to dump big ASIC hash rate into NENG mining.
(1) Original DynDiff Warning: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5027091.msg48324708#msg48324708 (2) New Warning on RandomSpike Spike difficulty (244k) introduced in RandomSpike served as roadblocks to instant mining and provide security against 51% attack risk. However, this spike difficulty like a roadblock that makes big ASIC mining less profitable. In case of spike block to be mined, the spike difficulty immediately serve as base difficulty, which will block GPU/ASIC miners effectively and leave CPU cheetah solo miners dominating mining almost 100% until next base difficulty reset.

What would be a good computer to "cold storage" wallets securely? A Netbook? Desktop? Any recommendations?

Im sure a lot more people are wondering about the security factor and want to protect every little bit of amount we have so this brings the question of security. I thought the NSA revelations were crazy but still didn't think about security. Bitcoins now have my attention. Any recommendations you guys would have so that I can download linux to?
edit - title should read "what would be a good computer to generate wallets securely to "cold Storage"
this begs the question...if we can generate wallets...we can become merchants and almost start a business just selling bit coins no? This seams feasible..

(Updated) [Staking] Reddcoin Core client GUI wallet on a Raspberry Pi Model 3B

Intro

This thread is an update to my first Reddcoin staking tutorial that was written 7 months ago.

The reason for the update
My Reddcoin Core software crashed and became unusable. My Raspberry Pi 3B would lag and freeze, I couldn't stake anymore.

Instead of just redoing everything the same way, I wanted to see if I could improve on 3 points:

The updates

If you would like to tip me
Writing a tutorial like this takes time and effort; tips are appreciated. My Reddcoin address: RqvdnNX5MTam855Y2Vudv7yVgtXdcYaQAW.

Overview

Steps

Video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Snr5e8bzftI
This video shows how long it takes to start Reddcoin Core.   TL;DR:

Extra

Backup
Backup your wallet to prevent losing the RDDs in your wallet! There are two methods to backup, do both. Make new backups if you create a new receiving address!

Boot with only 1 USB drive plugged in:
Make sure only the USB drive (with the swap partition and data partition) is plugged in when you boot up your Raspberry Pi. This to make sure the swap partition (/dev/sda1) is recognized correctly.   If you boot up with multiple USB drives, Lubuntu might see the USB drive with the swap partition as the second drive (instead of the first drive), and ignore the 2 GB swap partition. If this happens, starting Reddcoin can render the Raspberry Pi unresponsive.

Connection issues If you have issues syncing the blockchain because you have 0 network connections, please follow the instructions in this thread.

Start Reddcoin Core easier
Run a shell script (.sh file), so you can start Reddcoin just by double clicking on an icon on your Desktop.

Minimization options
Adjust minimization options, so you can safely press on the X button (the close/exit button on the upper right corner).

RealVNC VNC Viewer (client) and VNC Connect (server): To remote connect to the Raspberry Pi, I use VNC Viewer ad VNC Connect from RealVNC.

Chromium as browser: The updates break Firefox, the browser crashes when you try to run it. Install another browser, Chromium, to solve this issue.

Updates / Upgrades
If Software Updater shows up and tells you that there is updated software available, do not install the updates using Software Updater. Use LXTerminal to update Lubuntu.

Ravencoin Open Developer Meeting - 2/15/2019

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:02 PM
Hello everybody!

theking - Last Friday at 2:02 PM

Seems likes it’s been so long since this meeting was held. At least a month 📷

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:05 PM

Release 2.2.2 GO

J. | ravenland.org - Last Friday at 2:05 PM

Hey

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:05 PM

BTW, blondfrogs won't be able to join us today. 📷

corby - Last Friday at 2:05 PM

Hi all

Chatturga - Last Friday at 2:05 PM

Blondefrogs has been working on the 2.2.2 update. He isnt here today, but he left this tidbit for the meeting:(edited)"Release 2.2.2 has a bunch of new updates. The sync speed fix that was released in 2.2.1 has been updated even more to use less memory/ram and uses less CPU. Each node used to hold all addresses that contained an asset as well as the amount in those addresses. That is now optional with the -assetindex flag. Which can be put into the raven.conf or added as a parameter when starting the wallet. Some other wallet issues were also fixed with this memory update. This is considered an mandatory update, especially if you haven't updated to 2.2.1 which resolved a potential fork bug fix. I would still suggest updating to 2.2.2 even if you are on 2.2.1."📷6

Jeroz - Last Friday at 2:07 PM

wen source?📷1

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:07 PM

There's a PR that was just moved to Develop. When is now

Jeroz - Last Friday at 2:08 PM

great 📷

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:08 PM

It'll be merged by the devs to master and then binaries should be posted soon

truedev - Last Friday at 2:09 PM

any idea when dividends will be functional?

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:09 PM

A bunch of testing has been happening and is currently running on the seed-nodes.

Tron - Last Friday at 2:10 PM

No timeline for dividends, but it is the one function that doesn't need any changes to consensus. And it can be done on tier 2 with a python script. The plan is still to build in a rpc call.📷2

truedev - Last Friday at 2:11 PM

alright

SpyderDev - Last Friday at 2:12 PM

We have been focusing on sync performance and have been running many tests. I've added an image of the results of this testing. Currently we still want to work on getting the Windows QT sync times faster (at least closer to what they are using just ravend). Overall we are very happy with the speeds and hope it will help people that have struggled getting their nodes up to date.(edited)📷

Jeroz - Last Friday at 2:13 PM

Yeah that table completely puzzled me

[Master] Roshii - Last Friday at 2:13 PM

hello!📷6

Jeroz - Last Friday at 2:13 PM

Fast branch is 2.2.1? or 2.2.2? Develop branch is 2.2.0?

SpyderDev - Last Friday at 2:15 PM

Sorry, should have clarified that. I was testing while it was still under development. On the table the top is the new-sync code, the bottom is the old "assets" release. As of about 5 minutes ago all of this code is on the develop branch.

Jeroz - Last Friday at 2:15 PM

Although syncing is mostly bottlenecked by cpu speed, that 16 core windows-qt still looks off to me. I synced windows Qt using 2.2.2 in ~2h on a i5-7600K.ok

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:17 PM

Okay, we good to move to the Mobile update?

SpyderDev - Last Friday at 2:17 PM

The Windows box is an AWS instance and there is some concern that the remote desktop could be slowing the QT UI down causing the horrible sync times. I am working on getting a local Windows 10 resource and will have updated information once that is ready (early next week).

Jeroz - Last Friday at 2:18 PM

ah that might explain. Ubuntu qt was 45 mins for me

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:18 PM

CoolOkay, Mobile!Go!

[Master] Roshii - Last Friday at 2:18 PM

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:19 PM

@[Master] Roshii has been working closely with some of the other devs to get the iOS version out the door.Android will follow closely.

Jeroz - Last Friday at 2:20 PM

is android an easy port?

J. | ravenland.org - Last Friday at 2:20 PM

Usually its the case(?), i mean easier 📷(edited)

SpyderDev - Last Friday at 2:20 PM

Just copy and paste right Roshii 📷

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:20 PM

LOLNo, usually its a completely new development effort. For the RVN Wallets they are both written in native iOS/Android code.

[Master] Roshii - Last Friday at 2:21 PM

So the iOS and Android use the same Core SPV module written in C, and it's the most difficult part.I have already did some work when it comes to Android, and it's 70% finishedHave also to port all the changes we lately did to the iOS wallet ...

boatsandhoes - Last Friday at 2:21 PM

yeah, unfortunately its not as easy as cut and paste for ios to android

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:21 PM

Anybody interested in installing the TestFlight version and helping us test?

boatsandhoes - Last Friday at 2:22 PM

yes

J. | ravenland.org - Last Friday at 2:22 PM

For android? sure.

BW__ - Last Friday at 2:22 PM

Android? yes.(edited)

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:22 PM

I'll talk to Apple about adding Android support to TestFlight.Might be a while.

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:22 PM

Anybody on here using iOS?

Jeroz - Last Friday at 2:22 PM

Yeh me

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:22 PM

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:24 PM

Some of the devs have been doing a bunch of testing on iOS but we would love others to help.Bugs can be reported on GitHubhttps://github.com/RavenProject/ravenwallet-iosGitHubRavenProject/ravenwallet-iosContribute to RavenProject/ravenwallet-ios development by creating an account on GitHub.📷

how confident are you that apple will allow it on the appstore

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:25 PM

It's already in the App store.

ok

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:25 PM

That wasn't easy though.

The devs already jumped through Apples 152,315 flaming hoops to get it in there.

Tron - Last Friday at 2:33 PM

I have an idea.(edited)📷7📷6

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:34 PM

That several other devs have helped with. 📷

Tron - Last Friday at 2:34 PM

📷

SpyderDev - Last Friday at 2:34 PM

and lawyers

Tron - Last Friday at 2:34 PM

When the project started, ICOs were the big thing. Now it is STOsThe main difference is the legal wrapping and rules around securities. If Ravencoin has two more token types (Tags and Restricted Assets), there are lots of ways to make compliant tokens.Importantly, it doesn't affect the existing tokens at all.Tags - Tokens that can be sent only by the issuer once (with metadata). These tokens start with (hashtag)(edited)📷8

SpyderDev - Last Friday at 2:37 PM

^(octothorpe)

Tron - Last Friday at 2:37 PM

The Restricted Assets start with $, and can be frozen by the issuer. But they only move between tagged addresses.(edited)

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:38 PM

Tags can be sent to a user's address after the issuer has done the necessary due diligence for an STO issuance.(edited)

Tron - Last Friday at 2:38 PM

The issuer determines which tags the Restricted Asset will honor. This can be used for lots of different use cases.

EEE - Last Friday at 2:38 PM

Stunning interface guys

boatsandhoes - Last Friday at 2:39 PM

will that determination be a setting in the wallet?

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:39 PM

Restricted assets can then only be sent to addresses that are allowed and have the proper Tags.

boatsandhoes - Last Friday at 2:39 PM

interesting📷1

J. | ravenland.org - Last Friday at 2:39 PM

Did you guys get contacted by some entity* whos forcing the restricted address policy? or is this done as precautionary measure? At first glance your idea sounds good Tron.(edited)

Tron - Last Friday at 2:39 PM

Example: $UBER token only moves among addresses tagged with #KYC

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:40 PM

So Ravenland will have to buy a bunch more spam tokens.📷4

SpyderDev - Last Friday at 2:40 PM

#ravenland.

boatsandhoes - Last Friday at 2:40 PM

so is the $ something that can be added to an existing asset?

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:40 PM

It's not a forced thing. But adding the ability for Raven to be used in new use cases where legal requirements exist.

Tron - Last Friday at 2:40 PM

Not contacted by anyone, and not precautionary. Ravencoin Assets are just tools. This is just another tool that will help issuers of security tokens.📷9📷4

BW__ - Last Friday at 2:41 PM

Love it.

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:41 PM

It'll be a new token type that you can create @boatsandhoes📷1

ravencoin maximalist 🧘🏻♂ - Last Friday at 2:41 PM

That sounds awesome

SpyderDev - Last Friday at 2:41 PM

I for one am very excited about this...📷4

Hans_Schmidt - Last Friday at 2:41 PM

How does the $ token owner specify the required # tags?

DeejayQQ - Last Friday at 2:41 PM

Can the same name have different token type?Sorry need time to digest

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:42 PM

Still working out the details. Tron will be posting additional info about the idea soon.

Steelers - Last Friday at 2:42 PM

Cool

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:42 PM

Feedback is wanted!

Tron - Last Friday at 2:42 PM

Q: Was this originally the plan for Ravencoin? A: No. This is in response to the regulatory ramp up in 2018 in some jurisdictions which requires that only known individuals or entities to operate peer-to-peer on certain tokens. For jurisdictions that allow unrestricted peer-to-peer transfer, we strongly encourage use of the original Ravencoin assets. The Restricted Assets are an adaptation to satisfy burdensome, privacy-destroying regulations, with a goal of reducing information replication which makes Ravencoin Restricted Assets a better alternative to those being promoted now.

jaysonb - Last Friday at 2:43 PM

all nodes will validate the transactions not just those interested in the transaction - i assume all will validate..

boatsandhoes - Last Friday at 2:43 PM

so essentially any name already secured in the hopes of having that functionality are worth less because they wont be able to?

theking - Last Friday at 2:44 PM

Can the restricted assets be time based in any way? For instance, in some STO regulated environment, there is a lockup for some period of time after issuance, but then after a certain period of time the restriction goes away and the securities can be traded. Is that contemplated at all?

DeejayQQ - Last Friday at 2:44 PM

If I already have Tron as my asset, there could be another Tron but under a different token type such as restricted assets?

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:44 PM

Yes all nodes will do consensus checks.

corby - Last Friday at 2:44 PM

@boatsandhoes there's going to be a grace period where you can purchase $XXX if you own XXXon the order of months

boatsandhoes - Last Friday at 2:45 PM

📷 📷 📷 📷

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:45 PM

Yes, you have the TRON asset and you can also have the $TRON asset.(edited)

Tron - Last Friday at 2:45 PM

Regarding the lockup....

boatsandhoes - Last Friday at 2:45 PM

how many RVN for that?

Tron - Last Friday at 2:45 PM

Rule 144 under the Securities Act of 1933 This is an important rule to be aware of in terms of privately held securities. This rule provides the most commonly used exemption for holders to sell restricted securities (Note: For context, a restricted security is a security sold in an exempt offering, except for Reg A+). The general idea is that you can publicly resell your “restricted” (privately sold) securities only when the restricted legend is removed. The solution Ravencoin Restricted Assets provides is the ability for the Iissuer to Freeze the asset ininto the holders account. The qty will be visible, and the frozen status will be visible. The meta-data for a Freeze can specify 144_Restricted. The issuer can Unfreeze to release the 144 restriction.Similar for Reg D 1-year lockup.@theking

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:46 PM

@theking ^^

DeejayQQ - Last Friday at 2:46 PM

What is the timeline for this restricted asset to be implemented?📷1

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:46 PM

No timelines yetStill in the ideation phase.

SpyderDev - Last Friday at 2:46 PM

Fresh off the press...

DeejayQQ - Last Friday at 2:46 PM

Ok, idea for nowGot it

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:46 PM

Wanting input for the idea.

boatsandhoes - Last Friday at 2:47 PM

a preset for lock up settings would be nice

Jeroz - Last Friday at 2:47 PM

What about the ability to move an asset from restricted to unrestricted after grace period similar to the reissue ability? By the issuer(edited)

boatsandhoes - Last Friday at 2:47 PM

adjustable preset*

DeejayQQ - Last Friday at 2:48 PM

If this restricted assets would help underlying token listed on exchanges for trading by satisfying the legal requirements, I don’t see why not. There are only benefits📷2

boatsandhoes - Last Friday at 2:48 PM

yeah, win win

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:48 PM

There is something similar in vote tokens.

corby - Last Friday at 2:48 PM

@Jeroz the issuer would be able to "reissue" and relax restrictions

DeejayQQ - Last Friday at 2:48 PM

Just throwing things out here. Can we just make all existing tokens crested so far restricted assets?*created

boatsandhoes - Last Friday at 2:49 PM

stupid question, is it possible to have burned rvn cost for the $ to add onto the block reward as a bonus?(edited)

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:49 PM

No, @DeejayQQ there should be both usecases available in the platform.

corby - Last Friday at 2:49 PM

We (my dog and I) are envisioning a differentiated space where we can charge a lot more RVN to keep non-serious people out..(edited)

Tron - Last Friday at 2:49 PM

@Jeroz Yes, as long as the asset is still "reissuable", you could change the logic from (#KYC & #ACCREDITED) to just #KYC📷3

Jeroz - Last Friday at 2:49 PM

I'm just worrying about the name uniqueness if you can have #BANANA and $BANANA

BW__ - Last Friday at 2:50 PM

Is it fair to assume that tags can be standardized for specific purposes? If so, should we create something akin to an 'ERC' in git repo?

Jeroz - Last Friday at 2:50 PM

@Tron sounds cool

truedev - Last Friday at 2:50 PM

honestly, I think you should be able to buy/create an asset in a set, with all types(edited)

boatsandhoes - Last Friday at 2:50 PM

^that part

Hans_Schmidt - Last Friday at 2:51 PM

Since the #KYC tag is just locked to an address, what prevents someone from selling their address and thereby the KYC?

corby - Last Friday at 2:51 PM

The "#" types won't trade -- they're just stamps to stamp addresses as qualified-to-hold-some-stuff..

Tron - Last Friday at 2:51 PM

The tags are created by the users. The system is still jurisidiction agnostic.

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:51 PM

@Hans_Schmidt nothing really, the same thing as selling your username password to any other existing financial app account.

corby - Last Friday at 2:51 PM

@Hans_Schmidt Real world networks, high cost of entry (for serious applications)For non-serious applications, nothing

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:51 PM

You still have the liability associated with that account though.

Jeroz - Last Friday at 2:52 PM

@corby what about BANANA/ vs $BANANA/ ?Or do you want to make them subassets?

boatsandhoes - Last Friday at 2:52 PM

@Jeroz better safe than sorry, just swoop both

Tron - Last Friday at 2:52 PM

A country could require that #SOMECOUNTRY tag has to exist before moving $SPECIALASSET to an address. The users set the rules. #KYC was just an example because it is an industry problem at the moment.

corby - Last Friday at 2:52 PM

#BANANA, $BANANA, TRICYCLE, and BANANA can all coexist just fine I think..

theking - Last Friday at 2:53 PM

Thanks @Tron. This is great and I think something that will enable raven to become an even more widely used platform.📷4

Tron - Last Friday at 2:53 PM

That's the hope. I think it solves some real problems that the industry is trying to solve through incompatible ERC-20 experiments.📷3

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:54 PM

/hacks📷3

boatsandhoes - Last Friday at 2:54 PM

what is the purposed cost for $ in addition to an existing asset?

corby - Last Friday at 2:54 PM

People that own #THESE I am calling "Qualifiers" -- they just stamp their mark on addresses. Issuers of $THESE need to establish trust with #THESE and #THOSE and then decide what restrictions to apply.📷1

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:54 PM

5 mins left. Stay on this topic or switch to meetup?

Tron - Last Friday at 2:55 PM

@boatsandhoes Not determined.

Jeroz - Last Friday at 2:55 PM

yeah the idea is a nice proof of ownership / membership

J. | ravenland.org - Last Friday at 2:56 PM

Can the SLC meetup made interactive for people that cant make it there?

theking - Last Friday at 2:56 PM

What about having just one name ( you first buy the standard raven token under whatever name you like) and then the holder of the owner token is the only one to create restricted tokens ? Might be some way to ensure no name confusion.📷4

boatsandhoes - Last Friday at 2:56 PM

what about that block reward bonus concept for purchasing $. would that work?

Chatturga - Last Friday at 2:56 PM

I dont know that we have the ability to make it interactive as far as Q&A goes, but I'll look into it. We should have it live streaming. @J. | ravenland.org(edited)📷2

BW__ - Last Friday at 2:56 PM

@Tron Is there same kind of logic layer to restricted assets?(edited)

Tron - Last Friday at 2:57 PM

@theking I like that idea.

Jeroz - Last Friday at 2:57 PM

Quick question that is offtopic but I think deserves an answer because it was asked a couple of times earlier this week: Will unique assets get a reissuable function? To change IPFS.(edited)📷2

Tron - Last Friday at 2:57 PM

@BW__ Yes. Simple and, or, not and parenthesis - limited in length.(edited)

boatsandhoes - Last Friday at 2:57 PM

@theking thats a good idea

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:58 PM

@Jeroz There is not a way to do that currently.

BW__ - Last Friday at 2:58 PM

@Tron That makes sense. Thank you.

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 2:58 PM

Just make sure your changes to the information have the same hash as the previous data and your golden. 📷📷1

Jeroz - Last Friday at 2:59 PM

Any plans on changing that, perhaps when introducing new types of assets?

boatsandhoes - Last Friday at 2:59 PM

i like that it cant be changed

corby - Last Friday at 3:00 PM

Thanks everyone!

theking - Last Friday at 3:00 PM

@Tron there was some info floating around about a 2nd later KYC solution ( from your recent podcast w Crypto Koala). Is that a separate solution someone is working on or part of this new concept?📷1

Tron - Last Friday at 3:01 PM

Starting with the introduction of messaging, every transaction can have an IPFS hash. Can be used as an public invoice, details about the transaction, etc.@theking The same new concept.

[Master] Roshii - Last Friday at 3:02 PM

Ok, we're done.

Steelers - Last Friday at 3:02 PM

How would Raven handle for instance a stock split?

BW__ - Last Friday at 3:02 PM

Are there sync concerns if a restricted asset logic layer is added?

Tron - Last Friday at 3:02 PM

@theking The KYC provider would store the KYC info, and send the Tag to an address with meta data that specifies that they're holding the KYC data. The KYC data would not be public, but could be audited.

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 3:02 PM

That way you could update information about the original unique asset with each transaction.@Steelers Just a simple re-issue of the asset

Tron - Last Friday at 3:03 PM

@bw_ The logic layer is only a small db that stores the meta-data about the Restricted Asset, and enforces the restriction in the consensus rules. Rule returns true/false.(edited)

RavencoinDev (Jesse/Wolfsokta) - Last Friday at 3:03 PM

Thanks everybody! I have to run.

Jeroz - Last Friday at 3:04 PM

I'm looking forward to the discussions to let this take shape. Thanks all! 📷📷4

Tron - Last Friday at 3:05 PM

@BW__ It would work very similarly to the way the units works now. Each asset has number of units and any transaction that makes it too granular (more satoshis) will fail in consensus -- even if it gets past the RPC checks.Signing off. Thanks all!!!📷9📷4📷9

New to Ðogecoin?

Ðogecoin is a community friendly crypto-currency. Very similar to Bitcoin, but with a more noob-friendly and welcoming community. Be sure to check the sidebar - Being a new shibe though, you may be better served with a reddit-style self-post.
To do the special Ð character, hold alt and type 0208.
To do the special Ð character on Ubuntu 12.04: Ctrl + Shift + U; then type 00D0; finally press enter for Ð (Starkythefox)
To do the special Ð via HTML: & ETH; (no space) (cdeverett)
Do not expect to make a fortune in Ðogecoin. A Ðoge is worth about 0.00052 cents USD. The fact it has gotten so popular shocked even the creators, so consider Dogecoin your 'fuck around' cryptocurrency: You can afford to make mistakes while you learn.
What is a shibe? - A useholder of Dogecoin
What is this about the moon? - A lot of other cryptocurrencies including bitcoin expect the price of their coins to appreciate to the point they can buy huge mansions in which to store all their smaller mansions and little gold statues of other mansions. Shibes know the price of Ðogecoin will go to the moon. (Warning: Moon is not a tangible number. Heating in your house may be turned off if you attempt to pay in dogecoin)
Don't use an online wallet - Download the wallet program directly to your computer. You'll have full control and prevent leaving your Ðoge in the hands of strangers.
Sign up with a pool and try to mine some coin for yourself. Even if your computer sucks! It feels great when you see some mined coin pop up in your wallet.
Seriously. Try mining! Mining can be a bit daunting to begin with, but its very rewarding and you'll have a much better grasp of the beginning to end of how cryptocurrency works. (Unless you are using GUIMiner, you'll have to create a .bat file with your settings. Search/ask this subreddit if you get stuck)
Earning Ðogecoin Outside of mining - It's easy to earn Ðogecoin in the /dogecoin subreddit(s). Post something helpful or create funny content, you'll get tipped. Want to offer a silly service? check out /shibemarket/ (I bought reasons Mario Kart can suck my dick for 227 doges a pop a while back.) Hell, you can even beg or buy some.
Tipping: - Send a message to both tip bots to register so you can give and receive tips. The bots are so_doge_tip and dogetipbot. Send them each a message that says +register. It might take a while to get a response, but once you do you are ready to go.
Gambling: - What, is the emotional rollercoaster of a non-government backed, untested digital currency with all the worries of a pennystock and complications of FOREX not wild enough for you? I've seen a lot of people posting newly discovered gambling problems with this new found technology. You are best to avoid it. If you're looking to make money and are counting on Ðogecoin to make that happen - Just keep mining or buy in small, regular increments. The house always wins.
Faucets: (Thanks vidarino) Free dogecoin to get you started! You can get a very small bit of free Dogecoin in your wallet by inputting your receiving address into one of the faucets listed in the sidebar. Once you have some Ðoge of your very own, be sure to tip the faucets to help spread Ðoge to others! Don't be greedy and totally drain the faucets - they have very little and run on donations
http://dogefaucet.tk/ - No longer working
http://bartstuff.eu/doge/doge2.php - No longer working
http://freedoge.we-mine.it/ - No longer working
Where is your wallet.dat On win7 you can find that here: C:\Users\owner\AppData\Roaming\DogeCoin
Finally - /dogecoin is all about tipping, helping new shibes out, and posting memes and image macros.
Edit: Added note about gambling
Edit 2: Added note about faucets

04-07 09:48 - 'Lightning node on Windows - testing, get not connected' (self.Bitcoin) by /u/Mr--Robot removed from /r/Bitcoin within 845-855min

'''
Ok after testing BTCPay, C-Lightning, LND on Ubuntu I said ok let's try also the Windows implementation, is just few clicks and done (as it is promoted).
So I followed this [github guide]1 that actually send you to [this one]2 .
OK, started Bitcoin-core client on Windows 7 x64, with an already synced data folder. Empty bitcoin.conf (none of guides says how to configure the conf file). Wait until the client is full synced. And then launched the windows-node-launcher (from a subfolder inside Bitcoin folder). All good, started slowly and a small popup appeared in systray saying Bitcoin node is syncing. Reviewed the config of Bitcoin and LND through that little app in systray and saw that bitcoin.conf was already filled with some settings. Didn't change anything. After 1 day (with the bitcoin blockchain already synced), the systray popup still says that is syncing and have a red dot. In the tutorial says that we have to leave it to sync until is blue and then green.
I said, ok maybe it has more things to do. So I open that LND Output link, to see what is going on... And I see that LND is not well. Says: 2019-04-06 21:11:29.772 [INF] LTND: Version: 0.6.0-beta commit=v0.6-beta-rc3, build=production, logging=default 2019-04-06 21:11:29.772 [INF] LTND: Active chain: Bitcoin (network=mainnet) 2019-04-06 21:11:29.774 [INF] CHDB: Checking for schema update: latest_version=8, db_version=8 2019-04-06 21:11:29.808 [INF] RPCS: password RPC server listening on 127.0.0.1:10009 2019-04-06 21:11:29.808 [INF] RPCS: password gRPC proxy started at 127.0.0.1:8080 2019-04-06 21:11:29.808 [INF] LTND: Waiting for wallet encryption password. IRC Log from Ravencoin Open Developer Meeting - Aug 10, 2018

[16:01] <@Wolfsokta> Todays topics: DGW implementation, segfault, Q&A, feedback on IRC
[16:01] <@Wolfsokta> Just to set the stage here, this is a developer meeting where developers that have contributed source code to the Ravencoin project can meet and chat about items they are working on. Please be respectful to one another. For the sake of staying on target, please limit interactions to questions and comments on code or projects that you are working on. Any time left over at the end can be opened up for general Q&A.
[16:02] <@Wolfsokta> FYI - I'm RavencoinDev, and lets get started.
[16:03] <@Wolfsokta> @Tron, can you talk about where we are at with DGW on testnet and mainnet?
[16:03] <@Tron> Sure.
[16:03] can someone volunteer to take notes and post also?
[16:03] <@Tron> We are building binaries that will activate DGW-180 at block 338778
[16:04] <@Tron> It looks back 180 blocks to calculate the diff.
[16:04] I will copy the text from the meeting into a file that can be archived later. I can also make summary notes after like BTC core does.
[16:04] I'll save a log of the whole meeting and can post it on the subreddit thread.
[16:04] <@Wolfsokta> We have setup testnet4 in order to test the new binaries.
[16:04] great
[16:05] <@Wolfsokta> We plan to release the binaries later today.
[16:05] @Tron have you looked into the timestamp attack concerns of DGW?
[16:05] https://github.com/zawy12/difficulty-algorithms/issues/30
[16:06] <@Tron> Yes. And for that reason, we've tightened up the timestamps that will be accepted for valid blocks.
[16:06] <@Tron> Moved from 2h to 12 minutes.
[16:06] nice
[16:06] Oh wow okay
[16:06] <@Tron> Its also the reason we went from 60 blocks (lookback) to 180 blocks.
[16:07] why would 2h ever be acceptable? lol
[16:07] 2h was originally used for daylight savings shenanigans I believe
[16:07] <@Tron> It was from bitcoin, and it factors in clock skew, and variance in finding blocks on 10 minute intervals, and block propagation time.
[16:07] makes sense
[16:08] what about the segmentation fault when reindexing?
[16:08] any fix yet?
[16:08] @Tron 12 minutes seems to be pretty small window for clock skew
[16:08] I assume it was chosen due to 1/10th scaling from BTC?
[16:09] <@Wolfsokta> Not yet ruski, we'll cover that in a bit.
[16:09] <@Tron> We did divide existing by 10.
[16:10] <@Wolfsokta> Any further questions about DGW on testnet or on mainnet?
[16:10] What block is it activating on mainnet?
[16:10] <@Wolfsokta> 338778
[16:11] And will there be the need to update binaries twice (for DGW fork and asset layer fork)?
[16:11] <@Tron> We are activating DGW by block height because headers sync first, and the BIP9 activation flag sets a flag, and we need to look at either block height or version to know which diff algo.
[16:11] <@Wolfsokta> Calculated to be near the end of the month so we have some time with DGW on testnet.
[16:11] Someone on discord asked this a while back, but why Was DGW chosen over something like digishield or anyother algo
[16:11] <@Tron> And block version can be changed (tampering) and still make it on the chain.
[16:12] Binaries will need to be updated as more asset layer stuff get completed and tested. Not by the end of the month though.
[16:12] <@Tron> We looked at DGW and LWMA. LWMA has a lot of constants that must be tuned right.
[16:13] <@Tron> We were impressed with the amount of work on LWMA to analyze how it responds, but it wasn't straightforward to understand the nuances of how/why it works.
[16:13] zawy was in the #development channel on Discord. He's an expert on DAAs. I'm sure he would help with tuning LWMA if you asked.
[16:14] <@Tron> Either will be much better that what we have. Even at the extremes, it will adjust smoothly.
[16:14] Are there any issues or comments on the DGW code that should be addressed?
[16:14] @devs in general
[16:15] <@Wolfsokta> Thanks @brianmct, we did look extensively at the DGW code to ensure we weren't going to see the same issues that happened to Verge.
[16:16] so i guess you would have to make way more blocks with false timestamps to be able to exploit our version of dgw right?
[16:16] because of the 12 minute timestamp thing?
[16:16] <@Wolfsokta> With X16R, and with the changes Tron talked about we feel confident that this will address the swings without being able to be exploited.
[16:17] nice
[16:17] @russki Yeah, pretty much.
[16:17] verge is a different type of situation - but overall asics and mining are a risk always
[16:18] <@Wolfsokta> Okay, anything else on the difficulty targeting change?
[16:19] <@Wolfsokta> Cool, blondfrogs wanted to talk about subassets that were added.
[16:19] ooh yeah i saw those github commits
[16:19] looking good
[16:19] We also want to let everyone know that you can now create sub assets with the new binaries that will be posted soon. You can create these subassets using the issue rpc call. Qt will be built shortly. This will allow users to make an asset PARENT
[16:20] <@Wolfsokta> Basic overview. If you own an asset you can create sub-assets by including a '/
[16:20] nice
[16:20] And then make any of the following PARENT/A PARENT/B .... PARENT/Z
[16:20] <@Tron> We'll post a FAQ on assets later today.
[16:21] <@Wolfsokta> And it only is 100 Raven for a subasset
[16:21] on testnetv4 it still says asset activation status: waiting
[16:21] why?
[16:21] <@Tron> Yep, it needs to be voted in.
[16:21] <@Wolfsokta> We wanted to test the BIP9 activation process again as well. The more testing the better.
[16:21] We wanted to make sure that we follow the same process the Mainnet is going to go through.
[16:21] ok nice
[16:22] <@Wolfsokta> Any questions about subassets?
[16:23] are they unique?
[16:23] <@Tron> No
[16:23] <@Wolfsokta> Yes, they behave the same way as a normal asset, just live under an owned asset.
[16:23] <@Tron> Maybe I misunderstood the question. Unique with parent.
[16:23] Each subasset can have their own number issued? So PARENT/A can have 1,000 and PARENT/B can be 50?
[16:23] yes
[16:23] oooh ok that makes more sense
[16:23] <@Wolfsokta> Exactly thanks traysi
[16:24] <@Tron> And, not the same thing as "Unique Assets"
[16:24] <@Wolfsokta> The individual unique asset support is included in an upcoming phase.
[16:25] Moving onto the Segfault issue ----------------------->>>>>>>>>>> SEGFAULT
[16:25] Are we able to changes the properties of subassets after they have been created? Or is something like that specified when creating them?
[16:25] <@Tron> Yes
[16:25] can sub-assets be reassigned to other addresses while retaining control of the parent asset elsewhere?
[16:25] So basically it has all the features of a normal asset, but live under an asset's top-level namespace?
[16:25] satoshi corbie @russkidooski
[16:25] So basically it has all the features of a normal asset, but live under an asset's top-level namespace?
[16:26] <@Tron> Sub-assets are identical to assets after creation.
[16:26] <@Tron> Just cheaper to create, and in your "owned" namespace.
[16:26] Okay cool
[16:26] will subassets eventually have a unqiue tag? eg ASSET/SUB:1
[16:26] We have found an issue with our testnet binaries and are still looking to the issue. The issue presents itself when a user performs a reindexing of the chain. We think we have pinpointed the where the problem is and are currently working a fix. This fix will be out shortly.
[16:26] plan is to make default reissue=true and units=0 and allow increase in units on reissue
[16:26] How much is it going to be for a sub-asset?
[16:27] 100
[16:27] <@Wolfsokta> Okay, let's now focus on the SegFault issue that was discovered by Under.
[16:28] do you know what the issue was?
[16:28] <@Wolfsokta> It seems to be a build problem with the boost library.
[16:28] Still looking into though. :)
[16:29] <@Wolfsokta> We have been able to reproduce it on linux internally with 2.0.3
[16:29] yea i get the same issue on windows 10
[16:30] I saw a Bitcoin thread a while back about the seg fault error. I had it because I had conflicting versions of BDB
[16:30] static compiled on ubuntu 18.04
[16:30] <@Wolfsokta> We really appreciate you guys pulling down master and helping test.
[16:30] @Trap we will look into that also
[16:30] no problem, im just curious lol
[16:32] <@Wolfsokta> We haven't been able to build a windows version that doesn't have the segfault issue.
[16:32] <@Tron> We're dropping Windows support ;)
[16:32] lol
[16:33] Just finished setting up a new Windows test environment so we can test and validate the solution as we are working on it.
[16:33] The bdb issue is a known issue that has been around for some time. We are pretty certain it is a boost library issue, and are working quickly to get a windows build that fixes the issue.
[16:34] what did you guys do to fix the linux version?
[16:34] Once we have binaries for all supported platforms ready, hopefully tonight. No promises. We will make an announcement
[16:34] The issue has been fixed on Linux and Mac though?
[16:34] (oops sorry already answered)
[16:34] <@Wolfsokta> If anybody else gets there first with Windows please let us know what you found.
[16:34] Built the binairies on a Ubuntu 16.04 box.
[16:34] that was it?
[16:35] Yeah, we think so. 16.04 has boost 1.58 which seems to fix the issue. The build on 18.04 use boost 1.67 which seems to cause the issue.
[16:35] is there a boost 1.58 repo on 18.04?
[16:35] 18.04 used 1.65***
[16:36] I've built with boost 1.68 on arch Linux
[16:36] It worked
[16:37] wallet 2.0.x?
[16:37] @Trap, the issue is when -reindex is used.
[16:37] Oh sorry my bad
[16:37] Wallet 2.0.3
[16:38] <@Wolfsokta> For those that joined late we're discussing https://github.com/RavenProject/Ravencoin/issues/208
[16:38] 1 sec im going to boot into ubuntu and try compiling with 1.58 on 18.04
[16:39] Any other questions pertaining to the segfault?
[16:40] <@Wolfsokta> Alright, thanks everybody. Before we start the Q&A I would like to get some quick feedback on using IRC for this meeting.
[16:41] If we're going to use IRC we should take some measures to at least hide people's IPs when they join
[16:42] Yea. It is very hard to read this back.
[16:42] Also no message history
[16:42] If you disconnect and reconnect
[16:42] <@Tron> I'll throw in a vote for Discord.
[16:43] <@Wolfsokta> If you use a decent IRC client instead of the website it's not bad.
[16:43] Some of us used a VPN before we connected to IRC
[16:43] If needed we can restrict channel to Developer roles, etc for the developer meeting and open it up for general Q&A
[16:43] https://www.strawpoll.me/16247952
[16:43] poll
[16:43] Make a discord when only mods can submit links
[16:43] Where*
[16:45] Discord won the poll 5 to 2
[16:45] <@Wolfsokta> There are also a lot of IRC tools that can be used to track the meetings.
[16:45] we know
[16:46] <@Wolfsokta> We also want any developer to be able to speak.
[16:48] <@Wolfsokta> We're open to try Discord next week.
[16:48] <[kai]> perhaps you could even get a feed from this irc to discord?
[16:49] <[kai]> a feed would enable discordians to view the chat, but only contribute if they take the extra steps to come here.
[16:49] <@Wolfsokta> That's a good idea kai... Has anybody seen that working?
[16:50] <[kai]> https://github.com/reactiflux/discord-irc
[16:50] <[kai]> im sure you could make this a one way deal.
[16:51] <@Wolfsokta> I like that idea, let's try that for next week. So we'll meet here in IRC again, but it should be broadcast to Discord.
[16:53] <@Wolfsokta> Okay, we'll go with IRC next week with the broadcast to discord and re-visit for next week.
[16:54] <@Wolfsokta> Okay, let's do open Q&A for the next few mins.
[16:54] <[kai]> just a quickey, more for my curioisty, did you look at digishield?
[16:54] <[kai]> DGW solution seems solid.
[16:55] <[kai]> was just curious if it was one of the four solutions you looked at.
[16:55] <@Wolfsokta> Tron is answering... Any others Q?
[16:55] <@Tron> We briefly looked at Digishield, but our analysis was between DGW and LWMA.
[16:55] <[kai]> right on.
[16:56] <[kai]> cheers guys, see you next time.
[16:56] OPen the gates for the last 4 minutes for any other questions?
[16:58] <@Wolfsokta> Alright, thank you all for being here today and please join the development effort with us. If you have an idea, or a fix for an issue write it up and submit a pull request.
[16:59] <@Wolfsokta> Thanks again for all those that have contributed their time and effort to make Ravencoin successful. We have the BEST community.
[16:59] ^
6:59] You devs are pretty cool
[16:59] did the burn get discussed?
[16:59] <@Wolfsokta> Special thanks to Bruce, really glad you could make it with the short notice.
[17:00] <@Tron> Thanks everyone!

Did anyone else upgrade to bitcoin-qt 0.13 on ubuntu 12.10

After upgrding from 0.12 -> 0.13 (using Matt Corallo's ubuntu ppa) I've noticed the package disappears and is replaced with a dummy package who's changelog reads:
Bitcoin dummy package - please upgrade to a newer distro for an up-to-date Bitcoin package. Due to change in Bitcoin Core 0.13.0, we can no longer reasonably ship Bitcoin Core for Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. You can either upgrade Ubuntu or download the statically-linked Bitcoin Core binaries from bitcoin.org
I wouldn't have upgraded if I knew it would render my wallet unusable. Can anyone suggest a way to downgrade the package back to 0.12 using the PPA or other methods?
slight correction I'm running 12.04.5 not 12.10 as the headline reads.

DECENT MINING SETUP & RESSOURCES SHORTCUT

To all DECENTants,
I would like to encourage you to become a seeder or witness (actually not miner) on DECENT.

SHORT INTRODUCTION ABOUT ME

As a pioneer with Bitcoin I truly believed in the DCT project and it's proposal. The first day of the ICO release I sent all my BTC balance to the DECENT. Not knowing when and what they will deliver. To participate in this great adventure means a lot to me. Another project from my home country I strongly encourage you to get familiar with is Ethereum. I have been an early CPU miner: before Crypto Currency I used to compute for sience projects grid for Clean Water and Cancer Research. If I hadn't bought Rainforest with the Ripple they distributed to all contributors, I'd be a rich man today. :P

I - SERVER SETUP

A dedicated server with Linux Ubuntu 16.04 LTS is most recommend for 24/7 operation. I suggest you close the root and create a new user with SSH Key, secure the system with a firewall.

1. Create a new user

adduser bob

2. Elevate him

usermod -aG sudo bob

3. Generate a new keyset

ssh-keygen

4- Bind the new keys

ssh-copy-id [email protected]_server_ip
Copy the keys to your local drive. You'll need them to connect.

5. Change the config file

sudo nano /etc/ssh/sshd_config
Change Line PasswordAuthentication no

6. Finish with

sudo systemctl reload sshd

7. Login with your ssh key, user and password

ssh [email protected]_server_ip

II - PREREQUISITES

1. Grab your tools

sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install build-essential autotools-dev automake autoconf libtool make cmake checkinstall realpath gcc g++ flex bison doxygen gettext git qt5-default libqt5svg5-dev libreadline-dev libcrypto++-dev libgmp-dev libdb-dev libdb++-dev libssl-dev libncurses5-dev libboost-all-dev libcurl4-openssl-dev python-dev libicu-dev libbz2-dev

2. Download and build Boost 1.60.0

mkdir -p ~/dev/DECENTfoundation/DECENT-Network-third-party cd ~/dev/DECENTfoundation/DECENT-Network-third-party rm -rf boost_1_60_0* boost-1.60.0* wget https://sourceforge.net/projects/boost/files/boost/1.60.0/boost_1_60_0.tar.gz tar xvf boost_1_60_0.tar.gz mkdir boost-1.60.0_prefix cd boost_1_60_0 export BOOST_ROOT=$(realpath ../boost-1.60.0_prefix) ./bootstrap.sh --prefix=$BOOST_ROOT ./b2 install cd .. rm -rf boost_1_60_0 boost_1_60_0.tar.gz

III - INSTALLATION

1. Clone the repo

mkdir -p ~/dev/DECENTfoundation cd ~/dev/DECENTfoundation #via ssh $ git clone [email protected]:DECENTfoundation/DECENT-Network.git #via url $ git clone https://github.com/DECENTfoundation/DECENT-Network.git cd DECENT-Network git submodule update --init --recursive

2. Build and install Decent

mkdir -p ~/dev/DECENTfoundation/DECENT-Network-build cd ~/dev/DECENTfoundation/DECENT-Network-build cmake -G "Unix Makefiles" -D CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Debug ~/dev/DECENTfoundation/DECENT-Network cmake --build . --target all -- -j -l 3.0 cmake --build . --target install

IV - USE DECENT

You don't want your server to shut down the process when you lose connection or quit.
I use tmux. Though nohup is sufficient for infrequent access. Use it when you fire up decentd after miner setup.
nohup ./decentd & disown

1. RUN decentd - On first run decentd will create .decent in the home directory.

~/dev/DECENTfoundation/DECENT-Network-build/artifacts/prefix/bin/decentd
Always close it via Ctrl+C to save the current state Ctrl+S Freeze Ctrl+Q Resume

2. Get HELP

cd ~/dev/DECENTfoundation/DECENT-Network-build/artifacts/prefix/bin/ ./decentd -h

3. RUN cli_wallet

~/dev/DECENTfoundation/DECENT-Network-build/artifacts/prefix/bin/cli_wallet
Close it with Ctrl+D

4. USE cli_wallet

set_password xy unlock xy

5. IMPORT your account

import_key decentgo_username your_private_key

6. CREATE 3 sets of keys for your new account

suggest_brain_key
write them down, don't use the ones below. ;)

FAQs

1. Is MoneroClassic (XMC) a hard fork from Monero?
No. Monero hard forked from itself when updating from v.0.11.1.0 to version v.0.12.0.0. We are working with Monero Network version v.0.11.1.0.
2. Why do you choose to maintain the original Monero chain?
We chose to maintain the original Monero chain based on following ideas:
a) Bitcoin and Litecoin's examples tell us that ASIC mining machines are inevitable.
b) ASIC mining machine increase network stability and prevent user computers from being hijacked by botnets.
c) Considering the risk that would be brought by changing algorithm, we decided to protect the stability of the original chain.
d) Just like ETC and ETH, they are free to develop their own ideas, conduct fair competition, and the free market can make its decision.
We hope that in addition to be anti-ASIC, we can reserve another possibility for Monero, and give users another option. XMC and XMR both are products of Monero. The success of either of them is the success of Monero.
3. When was the hard fork?
Block height 1546000
Timestamp: UTC: 2018-04-06 08:22:11
4. Is MoneroClassic (XMC) pre-mined?
No.
5. Total suply and circulating supply
Total supply: 18.44 million
Circulating supply can be queried at: http://193.112.64.213:9000/get_amount
6. How do I get MoneroClassic (XMC)?
If you have Monero in exchanges (CoinEx, Xstar, gate.io) before the hard fork, you should already have the equivalent amount of XMC in wallet.
If you have Monero in your local wallet before the hard fork, You just need send XMR to a new wallet address form Monero version 0.12, and restore XMC wallet from your old XMR address's seed. Then you will keep your XMR safe. Wait for XMC wallet sync, you will get your XMC.
7. Do you have replay protection?
No. It is the responsibility of cryptocurrency that is hard forking to implement replay protection. Monero team has not announced plan to prevent replay attacks on the new fork chain, so boths chains (XMC and XMR) are at risk of replay attacks. To avoid replay attacks, users should create new XMC and XMR wallets, then transfer balance to them.

Did I just lose my litecoins?

To make a long story short, I tried the "upgrade" option in Ubuntu to go from 12.04 to 14.04 on my laptop where my ltc wallet is. Unfortunately, ubuntu and amd graphics don't get along and when the system rebooted after the upgrade I lost my gui. After a few hours of trying to fix the problem with the help of my lab's Linux guru, it seemed the best option was to reinstall the OS :/ I had backed up most of my important files before attempting the upgrade so I was as worried as I was annoyed. After reinstalling I noticed I hadn't saved the passphrase for my ltc wallet! I have the address and even the transaction history from btc-e, but I don't have the passphrase. I've tried googling wallet recovery but I either get sketchy results or redirected to bitcoin recovery. Is there any way to recover my wallet with the information I have or did I just lose the few litecoins I had? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

How do I start mining DogeCoins on an Ubuntu machine?

Hey everyone. So I recently heard about DogeCoins and am really interested in getting into mining. I feel like I missed out on BitCoins and hope to get into this while it's taking off. Plus, it'd be cool to learn more about cryptocurrencies and whatnot.
However, I'm not sure how to begin mining on my machine, which runs Ubuntu 12.04 LTE (on an ASUS netbook). The DogeCoins program and wallet have downloads for Windows and Mac, but I haven't found anything for Ubuntu or Linux. It doesn't really help that I'm a complete newbie when it comes to using a Linux machine either...
If anyone could provide any help it would be much appreciated! I'm assuming that I somehow need to utilize Wine to run the wallet/mining stuff, but really I have no idea. Thanks in advance!

(edited) 5:18 It can't get anymore ridiculous than it is at the moment. Pinned amp100 5:26 PM In your image you say that Alice knows that the COOP will burn Rhocs. People on here should know the COOP doesn't hold all the Rhocs. 105 million of Rhocs is owned by the Holding company which (as @ed.eykholt has said before) will 'never return any Rhocs under any circumstances'. This means that the Holding company will be enriched when the COOP will burn AMPs as the the Holding company's Rhocs will be a bigger percentage of the pie when the COOP nurned Rhocs. 5:30 People should also know that @leithaus and @ed.eykholt set up the Holding company and they can do whatever they want with the coisn as they want to. (hint: give to themselves). @ed.eykholt also said that the Holding company won't be transparent, well guess what, this is so we can't see what happens to those coins. This is all set up to enrich themselves and fuck us all over AGAIN! Greg never tried so make Synereo investors whole, it was all about safing his ass from legal battles and now finally his lawyers gave him the go ahead to do the swap and to fuck us all over again. Be careful people, history shows that Greg and Ed aren't really trustful persons. Take their word with a big grain of salt. 5:32 ps: as of now we still haven't received a satisfying answer on what will happen to the Rhocs when for excample 10 million only are swapped. We only got this ridiculous Rabit image.... Is this a joke? daniilgor 5:57 PM I've made my swap more than 24h ago and still haven't received my RHOCs. (edited) Pinned leithaus 6:05 PM amp100 6:05 PM @daniilgor That was another example of Greg not keeping his promise (crediting Rhocs within 24 hours). leithaus 6:06 PM @daniilgor - we are running these in batches. It's safer to do it this way. Of course, this is much better than the Synereo token sales where participants had to wait until several days after the 10 day period of the sale. amp100 6:08 PM @leithaus You are WRONG again. Thsi is not much better than Synereo's token sale who ONLY had to waiyt for 10 days. We are now waiting about 4 montsh to swap, so we are already waiting 4 months... 6:08 @leithaus AGAIN, can you answer the question about the coin supply? Which so many community members ask on here? You just keep saying you will do it but never do, don't make yourself more ridiculous sir and answer the question with an example. How much will the coin supply be if 20 million AMPs are swapped? And hwo the 3 wallet address will look like with how many coins in them? I and other asking you daily now in the last few weeks.... WAKE UP GREG! (edited) lexysis 6:10 PM The fact that @leithaus takes the time to make these stupid informal images rather than writing an official FAQ addressing the enormous number of precise questions that have gone unanswered is mind-blowing. frankojesus 6:15 PM joined #general frankojesus 6:15 PM what is problem 6:16 i hear much bad thing amp100 6:16 PM Greg is the problem... 6:16 He just doesn't answer and never keeps his word. But still expects money... (edited) 007 6:16 PM @leithaus Before I swap, I would like to know the Rchain supply question. Could we get a simple answer? lets say only 10 millions AMP in total are swapped. How many Rchain will be burnt? amp100 6:17 PM @007 and @leithaus where would the burned coins come from? Which of the 3 wallets? (edited) 007 6:18 PM I assume at ALL wallets would be burnt the SAME ratio. 6:19 but that still needs to be confirmed amp100 6:19 PM No as @ed.eykholt already responded to that. the Holding companies 105 million current coins won't be changed 'under any circumstances'. (edited) 6:19 So two wallets left. 6:19 Which doesn't make sense. 6:20 Even more so when @ed.eykholt told that teh Holding company won't have transparency. 007 6:20 PM Any one recalls what @leithaus said few months ago? what was the calculation then? amp100 6:20 PM Yes that they would keep the Synereo ratio as that would be fair for investors. (1:10) (edited) 6:21 But as Ed recently made that comment it is now in doubt what will happen. 007 6:21 PM could you give an example if only 10 mil amp swapped rilly 6:21 PM @amp100 JohnMalthus is a mod at /synereo they talk about 2nd and 3rd stage fundraisers. It seems the plan has been for a long time to issue more tokens for two more crowdsales, one for ETH and one for BTC. https://www.reddit.com/Synereo/comments/5k00q3/fight_the_scam/dbpvzek/ reddit Fight the Scam • Synereo First of all, the costs of such a large, long range project cannot be known very accurately in advance. Second, the project (again because of its... 007 6:26 PM AMP in circulation is currently 10% of total. So let say... only 10 mil are swapped, then the cap of Rchain should be 100 million Rchain. They need to burn 900 million Rchain??? amp100 6:26 PM Yes but teh Holding company doesn burn any as Ed said. So teh ratio of 1:10 can't be honored. 007 6:27 PM are you sure about that? Holding company is excluded?? doesn't make sense. rilly 6:28 PM This was part of "multicoin" but that was when they were promising AMP as the staking currency. Also Vlad and certain redditor(s) were critical of the security or purpose of "multicoin". They don't need multicoin anymore since they they completely control the supply of Rev. But according to Ed they are also open to the idea of creating more "economic" tokens in addition to Rev. LOL They are keeping all their options open. leithaus 6:29 PM As per the infographic, it doesn't matter which are burned. The particular holder ends up with a larger piece of the pie no matter what. 6:29 The Cooperative does not have a founders' wallet taking up 25% of the treasury. ed.eykholt 6:29 PM @amp100, you have misquoted me. Was as that intentional?https://ourchain.slack.com/archives/C2Y8CJ6HW/p1491479932911765 What I said was "There is no plan for the Holding company to return RHOCs to the Coop in any case." The Holdings company was set up as a for-profit vehicle, to provide investment to the RChain Coop for platform development, and to support the RChain ecosystem by building dApps. It now has RHOCs to advance those objectives. The Holdings company does now owe money to the Coop, and the Coop owes a platform to the Holdings company (and to the public). amp100 No as @ed.eykholt already responded to that. the Holding companies 105 million current coins won't be changed 'under any circumstances'. Posted in #generalToday at 6:19 PM ed.eykholt @amp100 I don't know the plans about adjusting the ratio of RHOC tokens in circulation to treasury precisely enough to communicate them. There is no plan for the Holding company to return RHOCs to the Coop in any case. Posted in #generalApril 6th at 11:58 AM amp100 6:30 PM @greg It does matter. as said in teh 10 million example the 1:10 ratio cant be honored as coins out of the Holding company wont be touched under any circumstances! So explain (edited) leithaus 6:30 PM Instead only 11% of the treasury has been transferred to a company that is legally bound to develop on the platform. 6:31 An AMP holder who has a single AMP has 1/1B of the supply, period. Regardless of whoever else has AMPs. 007 6:32 PM @leithaus thanks for clarifying. Could you please say how much Rchain will you burn (and in which wallets) in-case on only 10 million amp swapped? lexysis 6:32 PM @leithaus: Where are the documents showing how the company is legally bound to develop on the platform? What precisely does that mean? For someone who professes to care about rigorous communication, you are making an incredible number of vague statements and giving us shockingly vague and informal answers to precise questions.

Is it normal? amp100 5:58 PM Yes very normal, you are dealing with @leithaus and @ed.eykholt .... so expect HUGE delays.
